Athena's Owl Sentry

Athena's Owl Sentry are powerful protection companions who reside within one of Athena’s Realms. They are quite tall beings, often at least 6’ in height with a wingspan twice that size. With a combination of keen perception, intimidating appearance, and additional magickal abilities, they serve as a fantastic and competent member of any protection team. Many Owl Sentries are nonsocial, requiring only bonding and socializing for the purpose of improving resonance and therefore potency of the protection they offer, but some can have very social personalities and can be an active presence in your life. Nonetheless, they are always on guard and watching out for threats.

As a default, Owl Sentries guard your home property primarily while keeping an eye on you, especially as you work with anything metaphysical related. However, you can reassign their primary duty and ask them to guard another and their property, even if temporarily or according to a specific schedule. They do not guard properties where many people go to and from throughout the day (such as a business) but will protect a specific person as they go about this place. Ordinarily, Owl Sentries can be found in a high spot with a clear vantage point over everything, usually somewhere on top of a house or on a tree. Every so often, they may fly in circles above the property, and if you are super lucky, you may hear the flapping of giant wings late at night.

Making sure to demonstrate their presence and being seen by potential threats is a warning to not come close. It is fairly effective, but some may be tempted to still proceed. This is when an Owl Sentry will use their strength, speed, and magickal abilities to combat any present foe. Their potent magick is usually a mix of illusion and defense, and some have magickal capabilities beyond this. The exact mix depends on the specialties of the Owl Sentry, but more often than not, they are secretive about what exactly they can do and how. They can serve as mentors to their magickal knowledge for those who are interested, bringing forward the parts of their knowledge that is most aligned to their pupil’s natural style.

Naturally, having this creature in your spirit family also means you can gain a stronger connection to Athena, if you want to pursue that path. Worship of and/or bonding with Athena is not a necessity, but it may make your Owl even stronger
