The Sinister Scarecrow is a seasonal listing, offered in October and November. It is a protective entity, forged from all the ghoulish nightmares associated with Scarecrows. They stalk the boundaries of a territory, feed on would be threats, and scare away those living beings that mean harm. They are fierce, highly predatory, and very, very dark. They mean no harm to their keeper and are very loyal, taking directions easily. Some may even find the dark, ferocious energy of this entity to be nearly addicting. They are tireless and do not rest, pacing back and forth along a designated area for anything that could try to pass and intend harm. Those who are living and find themselves on the bad side of a Sinister Scarecrow will find a penetrative, eerie presence that grows stronger the longer they remain a threat and near the vicinity. From here, hallucinations, paranoid thoughts, physical illness can manifest. Visual and audible manifestations of the Sinister Scarecrow can also occur in truly unsettling ways for would be intruders. Those who are spiritual threats will find themselves stalked by the scarecrow. Each Scarecrow has their own method of “stalking”, but it always ends in either the threat being scared away or being trapped and fed upon. These scarecrows are, afterall, quite sinister.
Despite being called “Scarecrows,” this being does not appear as a man stuffed with straw. They can appear as many things and do not even need to be humanoid. They can be beasts made of green flames, a tall, slender shadow man, or even a tiny porcelain doll. They have unlimited variety, and are shaped according to two major things: their human companion and the Immortal who creates them. Sinister Scarecrows can be created by any Immortal that walks on the darker side. This can be Leviathan, Baphomet, Lilith, Asmodeus, Loki, Hel, Hecate, Nyx, Erebus, Phobos, Deimos, Eris, Nephtys, Kek, Anubis, Osiris, among much more. You can choose which Immortal youd like to create it or can leave that up to being a surprise. If it is a surprise, it will usually come from among the groups of Immortals I am acquainted with but sometimes it can come from beyond that and a research hunt shall ensue. There are some Immortals that may not wish to work with me. If this happens, I shall let you know and we shall come up with someone else.
Sinister Scarecrows come in two types: Basic and Sentient. Basic Scarecrows perform their duties without fail but do not perform anything beyond that. They are largely nonsocial but you can easily know when they are around and what they are doing. Sentient Scarecrows have a lot of personality, are capable of shapeshifting, and may hold powers beyond patrolling. For fun, Ive included two tiers for the Sentient Sinister Scarecrows: Standard Sentient Sinister Scarecrows and Specialized Sentient Sinister Scarecrows. Aside from a difference in power, the Specialized tier offers more variety in their capabilities, the forms they can take, and the amount of interaction they are capable of. Specialized Scarecrows are something intended for those who enjoy the darkness of the Sinister Scarecrow and would like them to be more of an everyday companion rather than on patrol, or on patrol and checking in every once in awhile.
No matter which you choose, they offer a great deal of customization. As you go up in tier, the customization only grows. You can give their form, and possible shapeshifting forms, a direction. If you are so inclined, Specialized Sinister Scarecrows can even be intimate, their shapeshifting allowing them to take on some intriguing forms. Nothing goes more hand in hand than fear and sex, so if you are so inclined, they do offer a unique experience. This does not mean they have to be scary with intimate relations, but they are a creature built on fear, so know what you are signing up for. The alternate powers of the Sentient Sinister Scarecrows can be given direction as well. To name a few: Fear Cleansing, Healing with Darkness, Protective Web Cocoon, Fire Spiders. Ultimately, the Immortal who creates has the final say, but there is plenty to give input on. I also feel I must say that the Sinister Scarecrows are frighteningly good at working in a group.
You shall find an improved resonance with whichever Immortal creates the Sinister Scarecrow for you. Building up this resonance can make your Sinister Scarecrow, regardless of type, stronger.
