Apollo’s Sunlight Shield is an Immortal Artifact imbued with the protective qualities of light, sunlight, and the sun. Immortal Artifacts are nonphysical objects that exist on the spirit and astral planes. The Sunlight Shield ordinarily appears as a circular shield, akin to a buckler. However, sometimes they are forged in different forms, according to the personality of its owner. They are White Arts, serving as a counterpart to the Dark Arts Leviathan’s Obsidian Shield.
They have an inactive and active phase. When inactive, they appear made out of metal, often with a sun motif. When active, they are made of sunlight and often have light projections, such as rays coming off the shield to make it look like the sun. The color of its light ranges a variety of warm colors related to orange and gold, basically any colors that can appear in association with the sunlight, making pale gold, scarlet, white, soft rosy orange, and vibrant orange-pink all options.
Each shield contains active and passive abilities. Active abilities are triggered when the shield is in its active phase and passive abilities work regardless of phase. Among its active abilities, all Sunlight Shields share the same core power: one of protection. Each shield summons layers of sunlight in a sphere around whatever they are protecting. These layers weave together, and the longer the shield is active, the more intensely integrated these layers become. Eventually, these layers stack to a certain density where they summon a miniature plane of pure sunlight to act as a buffer and barrier against whatever lies beyond the sunlight shield. Passive abilities are active regardless of phase and are different, depending on the shield itself. Cleansing, energizing, and boosting senses are all passive functions they might carry. Additional active abilities beyond their core function and any passive abilities are dependent on their own and are created according to what is deemed best.
Apollo’s Sunlight Shield best protects a single being; however, they can protect beyond this with decreased efficiency. Naturally, the smaller the space the layers have to protect, the easier it is for them to reach the state of creating a miniature realm. However, multiple sunlight shields can augment each other, allowing for greater coverage. If you are capable of energy working or weaving magick, you may layer these over your Sunlight Shield for various, unique effects.
Naturally, having a Sunlight Shield will improve your connection to Apollo. Working with Apollo is not necessary to bond with your Sunlight Shield successfully, but if Apollo takes a liking to you, he may initiate contact.
