The Cat of Shadows is a magnificent being that is loyal to Hecate. It appears as a cat of pure shadow. Sometimes it is a two dimensional shadow, other times it is a shadow with three dimensional mass. However, they do have eyes that can appear a variety of colors and can be quite mesmerizing, as opposed to startling. Occasionally, they may have collars made out of precious metals and encrusted with jewels as well. They can also appear as a solid black cat. They have a elegant and highly mystical energy that makes them feel regal and divine in a dark arts sort of way. They have a variety of personalities. Some can be serious while others can be playful, or even cuddly. They enjoy hiding more than they like communicating, but when they do want to communicate, it is often like a shot of energy. This of course varies with the being, as some like to be more present and others will only reveal themselves when they are needed.
Cats of Shadow have power over shadows and hidden things. What exact abilities they have depends on the cat. All cats have powerful ties to magick and mysticism, and can have additional ties to things like illusion, past lives, hexes, secret knowledge, nightmares, dreams, exploration of the self, and divination. Each cat is unique and may have a major tie or two to a few of these areas, modest ties to the rest, and minor ties to other miscellaneous things that really vary with the Cat of Shadows' interests. Needless to say, they excel in their specialties and will utilize this knowledge to the aid of their keeper. Many don't mind serving as a guide or a teacher to their knowledge, but it depends on the personality of the cat.
Cats of Shadow also have the ability to undo hexes, curses, and disable and consume nearby negative energy. They work well as defensive beings and actually enjoy “playing” with their prey. What exactly is done depends on the cat, from debilitating nightmarish illusions to getting the being to attack itself out of fear. They will work against physical beings and spiritual beings alike. Cats of Shadow can also work with secrets and stealth, specifically hiding the keeper from threats, seeing into the hearts of others, or making sure the keeper's secrets stay hidden among other things. Finally, they have wonderful powers of transformation and change which can take the form of many different things in the keeper's life. They have additional ties to things like prosperity, imagination, and protection of those the keeper holds dearest. All of these things are unseen or hidden in someway, which gives these beings the room to work.
Hecate's Cats of Shadow are incredible to work with and offer many fascinating experiences. They are a Dark Arts being on the darker end of the spectrum.
Naturally, they serve as a guide and servant to Hecate and her energies and associations, so feel free to ask for their help. Bonding and working with Hecate will make them more powerful and more present.
