Set’s Sand Beast is a protective being created by Set, shaped by sand and the ever hungry nature of the desert. They have a playful and often humorous personality, but they can be damn frightening when engaging with a threat. They often appear as some sort of animal, like a fox or wolf, but can also appear as things like birds, fish, or even an amorphous blob. They are natural shapeshifters so their forms are often changing with their mood. They have two distinct forms: a form like an ordinary creature and the same creature shape but made entirely of sand. Their sand is usually beige, a lighter brown, even branching into a faint reddish-orange but it can be more exotic colors like bright red, charcoal black, snow white, or an orangish pink, depending on the personality of the Sand Beast. Their solid forms will also reflect the colors of their sand. When a threat is near, they sprout sandy tentacles from their back and sides. They can utilize these tentacles to feed off of energy, battle enemies, or create traps made out of sand or glass. When that alone won’t do, they can solely become a cluster of raging tentacles that can snare prey and devour them, banishing them. They are also capable of becoming large Sand Wurms infused with the power of Set for a short time when it is absolutely necessary, plated with sandstone and magicked glass like armor. They can move through earth like it is water, regardless of their form.
Sand Beasts work well with the powers of illusion, transformation, and the unique union of earth and air energies. They will utilize these in their defenses and in aiding their human companions in what ways they are able. They enjoy lending a helping hand whenever they see the opportunity, making sure it is in line with your best interests and desires. They often rather enjoy putting you in the situations that you desperately want but are not brave enough to pursue. They also have an odd fascination with getting their humans into healthy relationships. Undoubtedly, their illusion plays a role in this, and they could never promise a long-term partner, only one that fits the moment. They offer a lot of insight into sand, the desert, earth, air, and various other things that have been incorporated into their creation. They are excellent and adorable conversationalists and get along quite well with other beings that also happen to be creatures. They very much enjoy play time, during which you will hear and witness some strange but intriguing manifestations. Additionally, any energy they consume from their enemies is converted to make them stronger and give them new abilities, which they often develop partly for defense and partly to aid their human. After a time, they can become a veritable fortress, if that form pleases them. They are Dark Art entities.
Naturally, having a Set’s Sand Beast will improve your connection to Set. Working with Set is not necessary to bond with your Sand Beast successfully, but if Set takes a liking to you, he may initiate contact.
